Peter Opheim creates a whole gallery of unusual creatures. He sculpts them with polymer clay in vibrant colors, and then paints portraits of them enlarged to a human scale. So the artist gives his imagination a real embodiment in a sculptural object and on canvas, and the audience - the opportunity to find similarities and draw parallels. Opheim's heroes exist in their full-fledged, but so close to our world. It has the same problems, but this world is full of colors and sincerity. At first glance, the eccentric and strange characters resemble creatures from childhood fantasies. But for Opheim, it’s a way of understanding the world around him. In his work, he completely cuts off the rational link, relying on his own sensory intuition. That is why his works are so sincere and attractive.
